LOCKERBIE PIONEERS: AN ORAL HISTORY

Preserving the voices, memories, and stories that shaped Lockerbie Square.

Our Story

Pioneers of Lockerbie Square: The Revival of Indianapolis’s Oldest Neighborhood celebrates the preservation champions of the 1970s and 1980s.

Funded with generous financial support from Indiana Landmarks, Indiana Humanities, and Indiana Historical Society, these oral histories preserve the lived experiences of some of our original "urban pioneers". Their vision, grit, and determination drove the revitalization of our historic streets.

By sharing these perspectives, we aim to inspire neighborhood pride, celebrate our roots, and inform a thriving future.
